My name is Liz Anjos, aka “Mercury”. I’m a distance runner and musician hailing from Portland, Oregon. I co-founded the running team and nonprofit Rose City Track Club and coach high school and adult runners. I’m a classical pianist and spent five years touring nationally and internationally as a keyboardist and singer with the indie pop act RAC.

I began running at the age of 14, then as an adult became immersed in track and road racing with personal records of 36:44 in the 10K, 1:22:43 in the half marathon, and 2:51:34 in the marathon. In December 2019, I ran my first ultramarathon, placing 4th in the Hellgate 100K. In early 2020 I set a slew of FKTs (fastest known times) on local trails in Oregon, and in the summer of 2020 I set the women’s supported FKT northbound on the Appalachian Trail. I’m currently writing weekly stories in my newsletter, writing a memoir based around my experience on the AT, and preparing for my first 100 mile race, the Kettle Moraine 100 on June 12th, 2021.
